Former ANC youth leader casts his vote
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and expelled ANC Youth League leader, Julius Malema, has voted in the South African general election in his home town.
Malema told reporters in Seshego, Polokwane, north of Johannesburg on Wednesday that campaigning on election day was a sign of desperation.
"(We are not giving anybody t-shirts), we are happy we have done our work, the campaign is finished, but once you engage on continued campaign you show desperation, you are scared and you are buying people on the queues with t-shirts, we don't want to tamper with these people, these people have made their decisions, we have done our work, now the ball is in the court of South Africans. Let them make a decision," said Malema.
Voting ends at 19GMT and a firm idea of the outcome should emerge by midday of May 8, although polls put ANC support at around 65 percent. [Reuters]
